This place was first recommended to me at university when I was researching curios for a theatre design project. Since then it has become one of London's hidden gems to me- although often scaring the people I take to visit.
It is shop-sized Cupboard of Curiosity- containing antique and original artefacts from all over the world and some hundreds of years old.
It is not for the faint hearted!
Value for Money: It's free!
When? Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm
Easy to get to? Bang right in the middle of London, High Holborn
Take the Tube-> High Holborn Station, Northern line, Central line and many buses.
A slightly more proper museum- this one is hidden just off the bustling streets of Oxford Street, by Holborn Station.
The Museum is inside the Royal College of Surgeon's- a breath taking building. All you have to do is pick up a visitor badge at reception and your free to wonder the two floor collection.
They are extremely welcoming to artists and have stalls available so that you can sit down and draw.
This museum is like what the Natural History Museum should be- A Museum not a Theme Park.
