Weird and Wonderful Museums!

Things for Sale: 7/10 Everything in the shop is for sale- at blockbuster film prop prices! There are some wicked souvenirs and more affordable curiosities
Value for Money: 9/10 About £2 for entry, which isn't free but well worth it!
When? Every Saturday 12pm-7pm or by appointment
Easy to get to? Fairly central London, near the V&A Museum of Childhood
Take the Tube-> Bethnal Green: Central Line

This place was first recommended to me at university when I was researching curios for a theatre design project. Since then it has become one of London's hidden gems to me- although often scaring the people I take to visit.

It is shop-sized Cupboard of Curiosity- containing antique and original artefacts from all over the world and some hundreds of years old.

It is not for the faint hearted!

Value for Money: It's free!
When? Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm
Easy to get to? Bang right in the middle of London, High Holborn
Take the Tube-> High Holborn Station, Northern line, Central line and many buses.

A slightly more proper museum- this one is hidden just off the bustling streets of Oxford Street, by Holborn Station.
The Museum is inside the Royal College of Surgeon's- a breath taking building. All you have to do is pick up a visitor badge at reception and your free to wonder the two floor collection.

They are extremely welcoming to artists and have stalls available so that you can sit down and draw.

This museum is like what the Natural History Museum should be- A Museum not a Theme Park.

Happy Chinese New Year from London!

We begin the year of the snake with a sea of umbrellas at Trafalgar Square, London. The roads were closed from here to Leicester Square and China Town. Even though the weather was awful the turn out was fantastic!

Chinese New Year
Things for Sale: 5/10 Some cute souvenirs!
Value for Money: 9/10
Food: 10/10 Street Stalls serving Chinese food that smelled so good!
When? Once a year in February
Easy to get to? Yes, Zone 1 Central London
Take the Tube-> Leicester Square or Charring Cross, many buses

The acts on stage here included Chinese dancers, singers, martial artists and acrobats.

My apologies for the poor photography, my hands were soaked with rain!

One of the Dragons from the Parade

Later on, in China Town just off Leicester Square.
We managed to sneak inside Candy Cafe for warm bubble tea and crepes. There were so many people outside watching the drummers and dragons. I wish it was sunnier! Maybe next year ^^~

The London Dungeons Car boot Fair

Last Friday I had a tip off that the famous attraction, The London Dungeons, would be selling off old props and special effects at the Pimlico Carboot Fair on Sunday 3rd February.
Unknown to me that this had also be published in all the major newspapers and free magazines across London, so I was first greeting by a rather long queue!

Pimlico Carboot Sale

Things for Sale 3/10
Value for Money 1/10 (Entrance fee £5??? Rip off!)
Open Sundays 10:15am
Easy to get to? Yes, Zone 1 Central London
Take the Tube-> Victoria Line to Pimlico or Overground to Vauxhall and many buses available

So I could hardly get close to the London Dungeon Stall, who were greatly under prepared for the crowds with only one table of stock.
A sneak peak of a Gothic Dungeon Thrown which had some lovely sculpted features. All made of fibreglass- completely hollow!

Two local Lan'dan'ers (Just kidding, they were actors!)

A lonely piece of costume on the rails.

The rest of the sale was pretty bare, there were around 20 other stalls inside selling house hold bits. A lovely stall holder who I was chatting to claimed there were often more stall in the warmer months. On the plus side, I got some beautiful clothes completely unexpectedly!

This vintage wedding dress was a bargain that I just managed to miss.

Overall, one carboot I wouldn't recommend, overpriced for being in central London and not enough stalls to make it even half worth the money- maybe we should wait till the Tower of London want to get rid of a few jewels before going back.

Art Exhibition: Head Room

These photographs are from an exhibition at my university gallery by two great Theatre Designers and Makers, Jocelyn Herbert and Yolanda Sonnabend. I really love looking at theatre craft up close to see the workmanship in these detailed items. It is easy to take for granted the work that goes into making even the smallest things we see on stage or in film.

When I walked through, I kept feeling that lots of these items would be great inspirations for classic style or over the top dolly kei coordinates.

The exhibition, 'Head Room' looks mainly into masks.

More information on Head Room and the Wimbledon Space can be found here.

My Grimoire Lucky Pack

I was lucky enough to grab a Grimoire Lucky pack this year! They were kind enough to mark my package as a gift after I asked but unfortunately I still got charged customs due to the item's value. So just a warning a warning about that :/

The package was in side a paper/card shopping bag and undamaged.
The butterfly tights I ordered and lucky pack tote bag <3
Tights packed inside to save room
Here's everything laid out :) I can't believe how much I got! <3

I recently did a photoshoot with these, they are so beautiful!

These Lithograph tights are gorgeous, I love the castle theme but feel that they may suit a gothic lolita style more? If your interested please message me!

And the same goes for these ones, Amour Enveloppe-  perhaps they would suit a more sweet classic style more, please message me if you would like to buy!
